Return of Rx M4LEA
So. This past year has been insane. My life in the EDM world took me to incredible heights and my career in the music business has taken off. Although I still love DJing, the business side of the music world is really my nitch. I stopped being so crazy and following top DJs to wild nightclubs every night so you wont get as many home videos of my party life but I will bring you the latest EDM news and tracks taylored to my taste. There are plenty of EDM blogs who can bring you the latest of everything EDM but I can bring you something more curated. A unique collection of EDM tracks and stories based of my personal taste. Not saying my taste is better than yours…just saying its something different and why not try new things.

Avicii performs at the Kandyland Party | Karma Foundation | June 24, 2012
Kandyland is an annual charity event thrown every year by the Karma Foundation. With Kandy fantasy themed rooms and talented live performers, the party is unforgettable. This year was the first year the party was not thrown at the famous Playboy Mansion. Instead it was held at one of the most expensive estates in the world located in Beverly Hills. The 85 million dollar mansion was taken over tonight by some of the most beautiful women in the world. The party is said to have 1500 attendees, 1000 of which are women. Many of the women go through a profiling process where the Kandy group hand selects and invites their favorites. The rest of the attendees include industry folks, celebrities, Hollywood socialites, and selected VIP who were invited to purchase a $1000 ticket. This ultra exclusive party was defiantly a success. I could have done without the excessive number of half naked ladies everywhere but the closing performance made it all worth the hassle. Avicii killed it behind the Kandy decks.

“We came, we raved, we loved” - Swedish House Mafia - The end of a journey
Axel Christofer Hedfors (Axwell), Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso announced yesterday that their days in the family crime business are over.
The men who together make the electronic group Swedish House Mafia broke the heartbreaking news on their website yesterday announcing, “Today we want to share with you that the tour we are about to go on will be our last. We want to thank every single one of you who came on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved.”
The news came as quite a shock! Arguably one of the best groups in electronic dance music, SHM’s break up is a very sad moment for the genre.
The trio has been able to reach remarkable heights for EDM. At the end of last year, Swedish House Mafia became the first electronic act to headline and sell out Madison Square Gardens. Not only did the venue completely sell out, it happened within a quick 11 minutes of being on sale. Back in December when I first heard about the sell out I thought this is it. EDM is it. EDM is finally mainstream music in the United States. Yesterday when I first heard about the breakup I couldn’t help but think this is it. This is the beginning to the end.
I know its sad but all this talk of EDM being too mainstream and about the fall of electronic music has me wondering…. Will the rapid rise of EDM in mainstream culture end up hurting the genre? Is the Swedish House Mafia breakup the first sign of a downward turn for the genre?
I sure hope not. RIP Swedish House Mafia. You will be missed.
